Lynda Green 11/7/47- 2/24/10

Hello bloggers.  I am not completely sure how this works but I am Courtney, Lynda's daughter.  I logged on to her blog to write this post to inform any followers or readers that my Mom, Lynda, passed away very suddenly this past Wednesday.  We held lovely services in Alfred, Maine for her on Saturday, Feb. 27.  Her memories will live on and anyone is welcome to share any thoughts or memories or stories you may have had of her.  If anyone would like to make a donation in her name, we are asking to please donate a children's book to a public school or library in her name or you may donate to a local women's shelter.  She was a strong advocate for children and teaching children to read and when she was working in administration in the schools, would often pop into a classroom to ask if she could read a story.  She also was a strong believer in equality for women and women's rights.  I have asked her closest friend, Karen, another avid quilter who actually was the force behind Mom getting started, to please finish any of Mom's unfinished projects- especially the wall hanging she made for my grandmother's 85th birthday.  My mom was the most amazing person I have ever known.  She will be missed.
"They are not gone who live in the hearts they left behind." -Native American proverb
Thank you,
Courtney Green

  1. Courtney, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother. I knew Lynda in a virtual way, since I never met her in person, but I could tell she was a wonderful, caring person. She left me encouraging comments when I started my blog and seemed to always see the bright side of life.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Molly

  3. Oh Courtney, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your mom. She was such a wonderful, giving person. I met her when she first started blogging. She was involved in my first fabric swap and then again in a signature swap. I will cherish the fabric she has sent me. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

  11. Oh, Courtney...NO...I am so upset to hear about this. Your mom and I "clicked" online right away when we first met there. She read of my difficulty with my new sewing machine (and how my dealer had sort of cheated me out of a walking foot for it). Your mom had an extra one and sent it to me. I sent her some fabric as a "thank you". We joked back and forth once in awhile in emails. She got a kick out of my "bottomless Amish shopping bag" in November and did a post about HER Amish shopping bag in December. She also took me up on my photo challenge in January (around the end of the month) and posted a photo of you at that time jumping with a horse. I was one of the first to sign on as a follower of her blog and we had things in common as we both were retired educators. I am so very distressed to hear of this news. We had hoped one time to meet up in the Lancaster area if she was going down that way at a time when I could get there, too....and now I am sad that will never happen. Please know that you and the rest of her family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

  27. Losing one's mother is a day most people dread, I know I will. What a shocking, sudden loss, so very sad. Know that even to those of us who only popped in occasionally to see what your mom was up to, she was a friendly warm person and will be missed.
